Assistant County Attorney Sarah Spector told the board the amendment preempts local contractor licensing by deferring to the state’s licensing framework. She said the ordinance closes the option for local testing (the local test window expired March 31) and requires applicants to hold or renew state licenses or meet the county’s reciprocity standards.
The board opened and closed public comment with no speakers and then voted to approve the ordinance on second reading by roll call. Commissioners praised staff for preparing the update to reflect state law.
