The Village of Freeburg’s Legal and Ordinance Committee reported on April 6 that it expects a planned-development rezoning application from the Phillips development on Adel Street and discussed several zoning and development items affecting the village.
Trustee Dana Miller told trustees the committee reviewed three recent building permits (one new home, one detached garage and two electrical permits). She said the Phillips development on Adel Street is expected to submit a planned-development rezoning application in time for the combined Planning & Zoning Board meeting scheduled for May 12.
Village Administrator Matt Trout also updated the board about ongoing conversations regarding a "massive" solar project described as involving Belleville, St. Clair County and Freeburg. No formal rezoning or approvals were taken at the April 6 meeting; the item is on track for review by the Planning & Zoning Board. Trustee Miller and staff also reported the committee reviewed recent FOIA requests and discussed a proposed fire department inspection ordinance; Village Attorney Fred Keck will review the draft ordinance before the committee receives it for consideration.
The committee flagged the Adel Street rezoning and the regional solar discussion as items that will return for formal review, and asked staff to ensure the Planning & Zoning packet is complete for the May 12 meeting.
