Freeburg board approves sidewalk contract, pays IDOT invoice and accepts treasurer reports

At its April 6 meeting the Freeburg Village Board unanimously approved several routine minutes and finance items, authorized payment of an IDOT invoice for $27,480.10 and awarded the St. Clair County IGD PY24 sidewalk contract to KRB Excavating after reviewing two bids.
The Village of Freeburg Board of Trustees on April 6 approved multiple routine minutes and financial measures, voted to pay an Illinois Department of Transportation invoice, and awarded a contract for the St. Clair County IGD PY24 sidewalk project.
Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling moved and Trustee Ramon Matchett, Jr. seconded to accept minutes from the board’s Feb. 17, March 2 and March 16 meetings; all motions carried with unanimous votes. Trustee Tom Carpenter reported the Finance Committee reviewed a list of routine vendor items and recommended the board accept the Treasurer’s Reports covering 9/30/25 through 2/28/26; the board approved that motion on roll call.
On a separate motion, Trustee Tom Carpenter moved to pay IDOT Invoice #127005 in the amount of $27,480.10; Trustee Elizabeth (Lisa) Meehling seconded and the board approved the payment on a roll-call vote.
The board then considered bids for the St. Clair County IGD PY24 Sidewalk Project. The bid list presented in the agenda materials showed KRB Excavating, Inc. at $68,987.50 and Mayer Landscaping, Inc. at $73,586.00. Trustee Ramon Matchett, Jr. moved to accept the bid from KRB Excavating, Inc. for the 2024 sidewalk project in the amount recorded in the motion as $68,897.50; Trustee Robert (Bob) Kaiser seconded and the motion carried with six ayes. The agenda packet and the motion record different dollar amounts for KRB’s bid; the board’s recorded action used the amount in the motion. The clerk’s office should be consulted to confirm the final contract amount and to correct any typographical discrepancy in the bid documents.
The board did not take other new business at the meeting. The next regular board meeting is scheduled for Monday, April 20, 2026.
