Alpine County commission votes to set regular start time at 4 p.m., delays implementation pending board approval

The Alpine County Fish and Game Commission debated and voted April 8 to change its regular meeting start time to 4:00 p.m. on the second Wednesday of the month, but commissioners agreed to delay implementing the bylaw amendment until it is reviewed by the Board of Supervisors.

A motion to change the start time was made and seconded during an agenda discussion about amending meeting rules and member convenience. Commissioners discussed the trade-offs: a 5:00 p.m. start is more convenient for some volunteers and minute-takers, while a 4:00 p.m. start may allow working members of the public to attend.

The chair said the change to 4:00 p.m. would require a bylaw amendment and presentation to the Board of Supervisors. "It passed," the chair said after the commissioners voted, and commissioners agreed to "hold off for one more month" and keep the next meeting at 5:00 p.m. while the full set of bylaw changes is prepared for board review.
