During discussion Chair David Griffith urged caution about promotional language in the business-support section, saying the Compass should not be labeled a “regional newspaper” and suggesting a term such as “information sheet” or “newsletter.” JT Chevalier and other staff discussed market attendance and vendor trends at the Markleyville market and said staff may bring potential funding options to a future meeting.
Supervisor Mesak moved to approve item 5.3 as amended and Chair David Griffith seconded; the board recorded a unanimous vote in favor. The board also discussed making the report’s references to future markets conditional on funding.
The board’s action directs staff to submit the adopted reports to state agencies; the board did not change statutory requirements or adopt amendments to county code. Staff said they will return to the board with any follow-up items if necessary.
