Commissioners deny rezoning request in Dobson Township, cite residential incompatibility

During the public hearing, resident Larry Slaughter and Alison Bobbit spoke in opposition, and petitioner Ronald Joyce spoke in favor. Board members expressed concern that the parcel is surrounded by residentially used and zoned properties and that a general rezoning—rather than a conditional rezoning with a site plan—would prevent the Board from imposing buffering, landscaping, or access conditions to protect neighboring properties.
Chairman Bill Goins moved, and Commissioner Mark Marion seconded, a motion to deny ZCR #1276. The Board voted unanimously to deny the petition, citing inconsistency with the Land Use Plan 2040 and potential incompatibility with adjacent residential uses.
