The Chartiers Valley Board of School Directors on Jan. 28 accepted the resignation of board director Mark Kuczinski and declared his seat vacant.
The board discussed how to fill the vacancy and agreed the selection process must be transparent and public. Per direction noted by Dr. Darren Mariano, the district will solicit letters of interest and resumes to Board Secretary Kim Borza by noon on Friday, Feb. 7, 2020. All applicants who submit a letter of interest must be prepared to speak for three to five minutes at the Feb. 11, 2020 board meeting. The board's acceptance of the resignation was approved on a voice vote.
The board did not name a timeline for appointment at the Jan. 28 meeting beyond the Feb. 11 candidate presentations; officials described the posting and public interview format for candidates.
