Chartiers Valley Board adopts preliminary Act 1 budget and approves Parkway budgets

The Chartiers Valley Board of School Directors on Jan. 28 approved the district's Preliminary Act 1 budget for the 2020–21 fiscal year and also approved Parkway West Jointure and General Operating budgets for the coming year.
The board adopted the Preliminary Act 1 Budget on Pennsylvania Department of Education form PDE 2028 after a recommendation from Superintendent Johannah Vanatta. The motion to adopt was made by Tony Mazzarini and seconded by Eric Kraemer and passed on a voice vote.
The Parkway West Jointure Budget for 2020–21 was approved by roll-call vote. The jointure's total budget is $723,154; Chartiers Valley School District's share is $75,382.19. The motion was moved by Jeff Choura, seconded by Dr. Darren Mariano, and all voting board members recorded "yes."
The Parkway West General Operating Budget for 2020–21 was also approved by roll-call vote. The operating budget totals $6,994,089 with Chartiers Valley's share reported as $684,073.79. That motion was moved by Jeff Choura, seconded by Dr. Darren Mariano, and carried unanimously.

Board members and district staff did not record any amendments to the budgets at the Jan. 28 meeting. The board’s adoption of the preliminary Act 1 budget establishes the district’s preliminary tax/levy posture as required under state procedure and was submitted on PDE form 2028.
The board moved on to other business after the budget votes; next steps for the adopted budgets include standard administrative processing and any legally required public notices.
