Antioch council backs youth roundtable and proposes annual youth summit

Several council members suggested starting with a youth roundtable or presentation that allows a real dialogue (rather than the three-minute public-comment format), then building toward a larger annual summit. Staff (including the youth network manager) was asked to coordinate with ACT and school leaders, and to invite high- and middle-school student presidents to participate. The council also asked staff to consider formats that let youth "set the agenda" and to present video reels and student work during future meetings.
Next steps: the city manager and youth staff will coordinate a youth roundtable, outline a potential summit model, and return with recommendations on timing and any budget needs.
