Oakley’s City Council voted unanimously on April 14 to adopt an urgency ordinance temporarily prohibiting the processing or approval of new data center land-use applications within city limits.
City Attorney Mr. Cole told the council the ordinance would take effect immediately as a 45-day urgency measure and could be extended up to one year, with an additional year available under state law. "If 4/5ths of you are in favor, staff will bring back an item in the summer and we will present an extension of the moratorium at your first meeting in May," Cole said, describing a workshop-driven process with the planning commission to draft zoning standards.
