Associate Planner Evan Gordon presented a proposal for a freestanding, double‑sided LED electronic reader board at the Iron House Sanitary District entrance on Rose and Main. The proposed sign would sit on an unpainted concrete pedestal and reach a total height of about 8 feet, surrounded by new landscaping as part of a broader entrance improvement.
Gordon explained that Oakley’s sign ordinance allows civic reader boards with council review and staff found the proposal consistent with the ordinance and with dimensional and landscaping requirements that apply to freestanding private signs. He said CEQA exempts small accessory structures such as signs and staff recommended adoption of a resolution approving the sign.
Council discussion was limited. Councilmember Fuller noted the attendance of an Iron House representative and offered positive remarks about the district’s performance; Councilmember Williams moved approval, a second was given, and a roll‑call vote approved the resolution.
The council recorded the vote on the record and the item will proceed per the resolution and permitting process specified in staff materials.
