Vice Chair Steve Freshman supported the idea and recommended combining safety with emergency preparedness as a broader package. Freshman also said transportation and housing should remain priority areas for the commission while gathering spaces might no longer require a dedicated long‑term subcommittee.
Supervisor Timothy McGrath asked commissioners to frame proposals as a one‑year vision with 3–5 specific goals so staff can draft responsibilities and membership. McGrath said he will prepare a formal item for the next meeting that would include a vote if commissioners approve the recommended changes.
Commissioners also requested clearer goal‑setting for each subcommittee (3–5 components) to guide work plans for the year. The discussion ended with staff agreeing to return with a formal proposal and membership recommendations for a vote at the next meeting.
