Trustees voted to award the village’s 2025 Street Program to Schroeder Asphalt Services of Huntley after the village engineer reported six bids and identified Schroeder as the low bidder at $135,193.15, below the program estimate of $145,000. The board approved the award by roll-call vote after a motion moved by Kennelly and seconded by Thomas.
The engineer said the contract would be paid from Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds. Trustees then approved a separate motion authorizing the village president and clerk to execute contracts and related documents required for the project; during discussion the board amended that authorization to allow the village administrator to act as signatory if he assumes the role later, to avoid re-execution of documents.
The engineer noted that asphalt prices appear to be rising and projected that next year’s street program may buy less pavement for the same budget. Trustees asked staff to finalize the contract paperwork and oversee project execution once the documents are signed.
The award and authorization were recorded in roll-call votes with no dissent noted in the public record.
