The Susanville City Council unanimously adopted an updated multi‑jurisdictional hazard mitigation plan so the city can maintain eligibility for Federal Emergency Management Agency mitigation funding. Acting public works director Eric Eddholm told the council the plan "has been approved... through FEMA" and that council adoption is required to remain eligible for pre‑ and post‑disaster hazard mitigation funding.
Eddholm emphasized the adoption is exempt from CEQA and does not commit the city to any specific projects or expenditures. During brief council questions staff confirmed the plan identifies natural hazards such as wildfire, flood and landslide and lists mitigation projects the city could pursue should funding become available.
Council approved the resolution by unanimous vote.
