Separately, staff presented a department report on negotiations with the police officers’ association (POA). Staff said the city will assume a 3.56 percent cost previously paid by the POA and that the item before council was a first reading; staff said a second reading will occur at the next meeting and that CalPERS contract amendments follow once signatures and confirmation are complete. The council approved the first reading by voice vote (carried 4‑0, one absent).
Next steps: Staff said the hazard mitigation adoption will be reported to the county for FEMA submittal and that the POA contract change will return for a second reading and for CalPERS processing.
