Organizer asks Danville council to expand downtown car-show footprint; staff to follow up

Bob Hammer told the Danville Town Council on behalf of a planned June event that the map approved by staff showed a much smaller footprint than he intended and that the current layout would not accommodate the dealers and vehicles he expects. “I moved our car show to Danville last year hosting it at the Blackhawk Auto Museum parking lot. I had 5 auto dealers and 145 cars,” Hammer said, asking the council to allow a footprint roughly half the length of the Hot Summer Sundays route from Diablo to Church.
Mayor Newell Einarich and councilmembers said they had noticed the discrepancy during the approval process and asked staff to follow up. Town Manager Ty Williams confirmed staff had been contacted about logistics and permitting. The council expressed general support for a staff-led follow-up to assess operational needs and public-safety resources required for a larger downtown footprint.
The council did not take formal action on the request during the meeting; members asked staff to report back with options and resource implications, including traffic control and coordination with downtown businesses.
