Public comments: food bank praise, dispensary concern, and a presentation on a "Quantum Financial System"

During the public comment period, several residents spoke on separate topics.

Dora Gomez, speaking for Project 29 11, thanked the council for support and described increased demand for food-distribution services. She said the organization used an overflow parking lot during a recent shutdown and distributed about 350 turkeys for Thanksgiving along with gift cards and other food items, acknowledging help from state and local officials and corporate donors.

Virginia Hayes said she was concerned about a dispensary on Roland and 2nd Street and asked why there had been no public notice for the location. "We are a family friendly community, and we don't need to have that there," Hayes said, asking the council to take action; the mayor said staff would reach out to her.

Ralph J. Beltran presented on what he described as a "Quantum Financial System," saying he had provided packets to the council and had spoken about the program in other cities; he said private organizations could receive multi-year funding through the program. Beltran said in a prior presentation in La Verne he had an encounter with police and the LA County sheriff's office.

All three comments were presented during the public-comment portion of the meeting; the council acknowledged the speakers but did not take formal action on these items during the session.
