Danville council adopts midyear financial report; adjusts operating and CIP budgets

Staff recommended several operating adjustments including funding for expanded recreation, arts and community services and added contracted services in development and transportation divisions. Lonnie, the finance director, summarized recommended CIP changes: appropriate $500,000 from general CIP funds to repair storm drain pipes along San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Hill Meadow Place; accept and appropriate a $75,000 Transportation Development Act grant for Iron Horse Trail rectangular rapid flashing beacon installation; accept a $76,480 energy efficiency block grant for LED traffic signal retrofits; transfer $102,120 from a local benefit district to pavement management for slurry seal work; and appropriate $1,000,000 from an SCC regional fund for continued landscape maintenance tied to an auxiliary land project.
Council members asked clarifying questions about ticket‑split arrangements for cultural events and the mechanics of some fund transfers; staff explained event revenue splits and the rationale for the transfers. The council adopted the recommended midyear report and budget adjustments unanimously.
What it means: The midyear action preserves the town’s fiscal posture while authorizing targeted capital and operational work considered necessary to maintain infrastructure and public programs; staff will proceed with the approved projects and report progress through regular CIP reporting processes.
