City staff told the Finance Advisory Committee on April 21 that several recent executive-team hires have been made and will take part in upcoming budget work.
Staff said Leah Erickson started this week as senior assistant city manager. Staff also said a new assistant city manager position overseeing community development and parks has been filled, Roger Harris is the assistant to the city manager focused on process improvements, and Ross is serving as chief transportation officer. The committee was also told that the new chief financial officer, Steve Agostini, began Monday and was most recently at UCLA.
Staff connected the hires to the city’s budget work: the city manager is leading a public outreach series and will deliver the proposed budget in mid-May; staff said the city manager is pursuing formation of a joint-powers authority (JPA) to explore funding options such as bonds. Committee members asked for documentation linking the staffing changes to the council-approved work plan and requested the item be agendized for further review if needed.
