The Calabasas City Council received the sheriff's February crime report April 8, in which deputies recorded 21 Part I crimes โ a decline of 28.1% compared with the previous February.
Deputy Ciemfuegos of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department said the tally included three aggravated assaults, two of which were domestic violence incidents, and that deputies arrested suspects at those scenes. He reported one commercial burglary at Parkway Calabasas and multiple theft-related incidents: 14 thefts (three classified as grand theft), three vehicle burglaries, three unlocked-vehicle thefts and three grand theft autos concentrated around the Malibu Canyon apartment complex and Commons Way.
"We did have 1 commercial burglary which occurred along a business of Parkway Calabasas," the deputy said, and added detectives had identified suspects in the case and expected arrests. The deputy also credited an increased deputy presence for helping the downward trend.
Mayor James Bizajian highlighted a larger year-to-date drop in residential burglaries, comparing 13 burglaries in 2025 year-to-date with one so far in 2026, and asked about the accuracy of percentage calculations; the deputy said the department's crime analyst compiled those figures and offered to have the analysis reviewed if council wished.
Councilmembers thanked deputies and urged residents to secure vehicles and avoid leaving valuables in plain view. The council received the report with no follow-up motions.
