Commission tables general-plan revisions after members request more time to review changes

Staff said the draft primarily updates statistics, rewords sections for clarity and includes a few insertions provided by Commissioner Brown to emphasize protecting current residents and preserving private-property rights for new and current residents.
Commissioners asked to see the redlined materials and requested time to study potential philosophical changes in the plan’s language. One commissioner said the board should be cautious about altering the plan’s foundational language without full review; another asked for the public hearing to be re-noticed along with the revised packet if the commission tables the item.
A motion to table the item and the public hearing until the following meeting, to allow commissioners to review the revisions, was moved, seconded and carried. Staff will circulate the revised draft and a strikethrough version for review before the next meeting.
