Summary
The Knox County zoning commission unanimously approved small residential rezonings for Andrew Jones and for Steven and Linda Gordon, and it deferred two items (including a Ballcamp Pike request) to the May meeting.
At its April 20 meeting the Knox County Zoning Commission approved two residential rezoning requests and deferred other items to the May agenda.
Andrew Jones (speaker 18) asked to rezone property at 1117 Grandville Connor Road from agricultural to RA (low-density residential) so he can place two small manufactured homes for family or student tenants. Planning staff said the request is consistent with the Knox County comprehensive plan and the commission approved the rezoning unanimously (11-0). Commissioners asked about sewer (the applicant confirmed the property is on sewer) and driveway access before voting.
Steven Gordon (speaker 8), appearing by Zoom, requested rezoning from agricultural to RA for properties at 509 and 511 Kimberlin Heights Road so the parcel can be split; planning recommended approval and the commission approved the request (11-0).
Two items were deferred to May: Item 4 (previously noted at the start of the agenda) and the Carla Gourley request (12D25RZ for 7120 Ballcamp Pike); the Gourley item was re-read and deferred because the applicant was not present. The commission noted the deferrals were largely procedural and that applicants could return in May.
