The Traffic and Safety Committee approved staff’s recommendation to install no-parking red-curb zones at the Harvison Avenue and East 6th Street intersection to improve sightlines and intersection visibility.
Staff reported power poles and parked vehicles currently reduce visibility at the intersection; after measuring available space, staff recommended reducing red-curb lengths to a combined total that would minimize lost spaces. The recommended configuration reduces the initial 30-foot proposal to 26 feet on one approach (and 20 feet on the other), limiting parking loss to roughly four spaces citywide at that corner.
Committee members said staff notified nearby residences during the site visit and that no residents attended the meeting to object. The chair accepted staff’s adjusted measurements and the motion to adopt the red-curb changes passed unanimously.
Public Works will implement the curb markings and sign installation per the approved plan and monitor the intersection for any further adjustments.
