Division staff ask to surplus about 9,000 technology devices; vendor to erase data to DoD standards

Jeff Terry presented a surplus request for retired technology equipment, asking the board to move an approximate inventory of 9,000 devices to the consent agenda so the devices can be prepared for sale or environmentally friendly destruction by the state contract vendor PowerHouse Recycling.
Terry said the inventory includes laptops, desktops, monitors, printers, mobile devices, accessories and door access hardware, and that PowerHouse Recycling will erase all data using Department of Defense standards and provide proof-of-destruction documentation. He also said the card-access equipment will be prepared for sale under normal warehouse surplus procedures and that surplus proceeds have been included in the FY26 budget as a funding source for the technology replacement plan.
Terry recommended moving the surplus request to consent and offered to answer questions; board members had no substantive objections. The board did not take a separate roll-call vote during the work session on the surplus presentation; Terry requested moving the item to consent for the regular meeting.
