District updates Chase City Elementary construction and shows remodeled high-school band room

At Monday’s Mecklenburg County Public Schools meeting, district staff provided a construction update on Chase City Elementary and showcased a remodeled band room at Mecklenburg County High School.
Miss Dalton reported that subcontracting continues, site fines were used to stabilize the building pad, rebar has arrived, and underground utilities and storm structures are being installed. She said first concrete for footers was scheduled for Jan. 22 and that the project’s substantial completion target remains April, with final completion listed as June 15, 2027.
On the high school band room, Dalton said the district converted the former wrestling room to create more space for the band program and reused stored high-value storage from Bluestone to furnish the space. Dalton presented photos and a short student video and noted the room’s improved acoustics; a former band director who attended praised the room’s design and logistics for loading equipment directly to the football field.
Board members congratulated the project team and teachers; no formal votes were taken on the construction or facility presentation during the meeting.
