Wichita Falls creates Central Revitalization Area and committee to target city services

The City of Wichita Falls formally established a committee and scope of work for a Central Wichita Falls Revitalization Area aimed at improving city services and directing grants and spending to a neighborhood around the old high school.
City Manager Darren Leiker told the council the effort is part of the city—s strategic plan and will take a grassroots approach, working with residents and property owners in that geographic area.
"We're gonna make a concerted effort to work with the residents and property owners in that geographic area to improve city services and make sure we target grants and spending opportunities in that neighborhood area," Leiker said.
Leiker described the initial revitalization area as generally around the old high school and bordered by Kell, Brook and Kemp streets. He said the committee and its scope of work were established at the meeting and that the group's meetings will begin soon.
City staff said more details are available on the city's website; council did not provide specific grant amounts or a timeline for project completion during the wrap.
