The School Board approved changes to the division’s Program of Studies at its March 9 meeting, including a reclassification of the E2 (Entrepreneurial Energy) program and GPA‑weight adjustments for select courses.
Randi Richards‑Lutz told the board that because the Virginia Department of Education retired the E2 course, Culpeper County Public Schools proposes aligning the program to the Entrepreneurship course sequence. The new sequence will include Entrepreneurship, Advanced Entrepreneurship and Marketing Management; Richards‑Lutz said the CTE Advisory Council recommended the change and staff will submit the application to VDOE.
Separately, Robert Hauman presented a rubric used by the instruction department to evaluate course rigor and recommended changing the weighting of several courses from standard to honors. Staff recommended the change for Business/Entrepreneurship and Marketing courses associated with the E‑Squared program as well as EMT I & II, Firefighter I & II, and Medical Assistant I & II, citing rigorous content, certification opportunities and significant out‑of‑class requirements. The board approved the course‑name and GPA‑weight adjustments on recorded motions.
