School board approves HR report, affirms two student-discipline decisions

Bowen identified three principal-level or higher items: the resignation of Abner Braban, director of human-resources systems, effective Jan. 5, 2026; the retirement of Dr. Jean Walker, principal at Cobb Horizon High School, effective July 1, 2026; and the retirement of Dr. Tammy Watson, principal at Russell Elementary School, effective July 1, 2026.
Board member Mr. Wheeler moved to accept the HR personnel report; Miss Davis seconded the motion. The chair announced the vote as 7–0 in favor and the report was approved.
Bowen then moved that the hearing decision in student-discipline appeal No. 6 be affirmed; a second was recorded and the chair announced the vote as seven in favor with none opposed, affirming the hearing decision. Superintendent Mr. Ragsdale moved that the hearing decision in student-discipline appeal No. 7 be affirmed; after a second the board again voted seven in favor with none opposed.
The board did not provide detailed public explanations of the student-discipline cases at the meeting; the actions were taken after executive session. The chair declared the motions carried and the board moved on to other business before adjourning.
