Maywood board authorizes Cook County Land Bank MOU, approves $31,300 demolition payment

The Village of Maywood Board of Trustees on Nov. 17 authorized execution of a memorandum of understanding with the Cook County Land Bank Authority (CCLBA) aimed at identifying abandoned properties for transfer into the land bank for rehabilitation and restoration to the tax rolls.
Village Manager David Myers and Village Attorney Michael Marrs outlined revisions to the draft MOU negotiated with CCLBA counsel, noting clarifications to Sections 2 and 4 that address lien issues, the village manager's authority to waive escrow requirements in appropriate cases and planned outreach efforts. Brian White, executive director of the CCLBA, attended the meeting to answer questions.
Trustees said they supported the program as a tool to address vacant and blighted properties. The board voted to authorize execution of the MOU.
Separately, trustees approved payment of $31,300 to Impactor P&P, Inc. for demolition work at 2023 South 12th Avenue, confirming the demolition had occurred earlier and this payment was an outstanding invoice.
Next steps: the manager's office and CCLBA will proceed under the MOU terms to identify candidate properties; the village will process the demolition payment per vendor procedures.
