Summary
The board approved a six-year ad valorem tax rebate for a Recoil Trampoline Park project (branded on the agenda as Jumping Jelly Bean) tied to a $3.5 million capital investment and a projected 30 full-time equivalent jobs; the owner said the facility would draw regional visitors and local hires.
The Columbia County Board approved an incentive package to attract a Recoil Trampoline Park (presented as Jumping Jelly Bean) to Lake City, authorizing a six-year ad valorem rebate based on an estimated $3.5 million capital investment and the creation of roughly 30 full-time equivalent positions.
County staff said the Economic Development Advisory Board unanimously recommended the rebate structure: 75% on new real property ad valorem taxes and 50% on tangible personal property for the agreed period. Business owner Trent Coggins, who operates a successful location in Valdosta, Georgia, described expected payroll and sales impacts, said the Lake City location would include trampolines, laser tag, go-karts and other attractions, and said the operator expects to hire many local 16–21-year-old workers.
Commissioners asked about volume phasing, parking and safety for attractions such as go-karts; the owner said the site design includes 127 parking spaces and that the project team will complete necessary safety systems. The board voted to approve the incentive package.
What’s next: staff and the business will finalize necessary site plans, permits and interlocal items as needed and work toward construction and opening timelines described by the owner.
