At its April 21 meeting, the Roseland Governing Body presented proclamations honoring local youth and community groups and publicly thanked residents and donors for volunteer contributions.
The mayor and council recognized the Roseland Blue first-and-second grade basketball champions. Coach Mark Detroya accepted the proclamation and thanked recreation staff and volunteers: "What you and the rec department do every day is incredible," he said, and urged continued practice and community support.
Mayor Espango read a proclamation honoring Sanaya for winning the Elks Mid-Atlantic regional soccer shoot and representing New Jersey in the regional finals. The council also proclaimed April 2026 as Autism Awareness Month, cited local organization Team 94 for its fundraising and support for young adults with special needs, and stated that Borough Hall would be lit blue for the month.
The council publicly thanked Tom O'Byrne and company for donating and installing a modular block wall outside the community room and recognized public-works staff for recent pedestrian-safety improvements, including the installation of flashing beacon signs and their bases.
These recognitions were presented at the start of the meeting; no council votes were required for the proclamations.
