LEXINGTON, Texas — The Lexington City Council on Monday ordered a general election for Saturday, May 2, 2026, to elect a mayor and two council members to two-year terms and handled routine administrative business.
Councilperson David Mason moved to order the election; Councilperson Dana Matson seconded. The motion passed unanimously, 5–0. The motion specifies the purpose as electing a mayor and two council members, each for two-year terms.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the Dec. 8, 2025 regular meeting minutes (motion by Anthony Retzlaff, seconded by Bobby Wesner) and voted 5–0 to authorize payment of bills for December 2025 (motion by David Mason, seconded by Anthony Retzlaff). The minutes record that financial/budget reports, police reports, code enforcement, public works, municipal court and mayor/council reports were presented to the council; no formal action was recorded on those reports.
The short regular meeting began at 6:00 p.m. at City Hall, 604 Wheatley, and adjourned at 6:12 p.m.
