Votes at a glance: Edgerton council approves bids, resolutions and ordinance on Oct. 20

At its Oct. 20, 2025 meeting the Edgerton Common Council approved a series of procurement awards, resolutions and an ordinance in a sequence of roll-call votes.

Key actions included approval of bills and payroll totaling $259,981.75; adoption of Resolution 15-25 to write off $6,246.93 in 2023 delinquent personal property taxes; and adoption of Resolution 16-25 authorizing exceeding the levy limit for the Edgerton Fire Protection District (Lakeside Fire-Rescue District). The council awarded the County F athletic fields contract to Frank Silha and Son's Excavation and awarded the road salt purchase to Morton Salt at $92.15/ton (rising to $97.15/ton after the first 350 tons). The council declared a PT Cruiser surplus with a minimum bid of $3,500.

The council also approved a developer agreement for Lot #2 in the Business Park with River Island Investments LLC and Basement Repair Specialists LLC; adopted Resolution 17-25 requesting exemption from the Rock and Dane County library tax; and adopted Ordinance 25-13 (amending Chapter 305 Section 305-35 regarding minimum age for tobacco purchase/possession). For the draft 2026 budget the council approved specific adjustments: removing a $5,822 pool item, using $24,500 in developer fees for park improvements, reducing a requested $44,000 library staff increase by $25,000, and applying $49,480 from the Capital Surplus Fund to balance the budget. The meeting adjourned following a final vote to rescind SDW borrowing and instead use capital surplus to fund Washington Street improvements.
