Loading...
Summary
Students from Shawnee Heights Elementary's sixth-grade leadership team described their selection process, service activities (greeting students on Thunderbolt Thursdays, volunteering at events) and a new staff-member-of-the-month recognition program during the board meeting.
Members of the Shawnee Heights Elementary sixth-grade leadership team presented to the board about how they were chosen and what they do in the school.
Assistant Principal Mrs. Clay introduced the students and explained selection was competitive: candidates submitted an application, wrote an essay and provided letters of reference. Students said selection criteria included kindness, good grades, hard work and modeling the school's "8 keys." The team described activities including classroom visits to teach the 8 keys, greeting students during Thunderbolt Thursdays and volunteering at school events such as the fall fun run.
Principal Shawnee Hayes thanked the site council and PTO for providing a meal for the board and guests. The board thanked the students and parents for the presentation and the meal.
