Dr. O'Brien told the board the grant flows from the federal government through the state to districts and supports costs such as personnel and instructional materials. "It's for our IDEA 6B grant. This is a federal flow through grant, so it comes through the federal government and goes, through the states and then they disperse it based on population in our district," Dr. O'Brien said. He described required assurances the district must sign — including compliance with drug‑free workplace policy, nondiscrimination, fiscal controls, reporting requirements and permissible use of funds to offset excess costs of educating students with disabilities.
The board voted 4-0 to approve the assurances (motion by Sarah, second by Rocky). Dr. O'Brien recommended approval and noted the assurances are administrative steps required for the district to receive the federal funds.
