Calhoun County adopts FY2008 budget, sets total millage at 6.3713

Calhoun County commissioners voted unanimously on Dec. 20 to adopt the FY2008 budget (Res. 212-2007), setting the countys total millage at 6.3713 mills and authorizing appropriations for county departments and funds.
County Administrator Greg Purcell and Finance Director Mark Stuhldreher told the Board the budget was prepared to avoid reductions in services or personnel and is predicated on additional jail revenue and exploration of a tether program. The budget document lists General Operating at 5.3779 mills ($18,101,026), Medical Care Facility at 0.2482 mills ($831,188) and Senior Services at 0.7452 mills ($2,559,708), totaling an estimated $21,491,922 in property-tax revenue.
The resolution cites the Uniform Budgeting and Accounting Act (MCLA 141.421 et seq.) as the statutory basis for enactment of the General Appropriations Act. Commissioners thanked staff for preparing the budget; roll call vote was 7-0 in favor.
