The Bonham City Council on Oct. 13 adopted a resolution creating the Bonham Lakeside Public Improvement District following a public hearing and explanation of the next steps by City Manager Sean Pate.
At the hearing, Pate described the district’s location and summarized the history of the petition and creation process before the mayor closed the public comment period. After questions from the audience were answered, Council Member Ernie Quintana moved to adopt the resolution; Kevin Hayes seconded the motion and the council recorded the vote as unanimous (6 - 0).
A public improvement district (PID) allows a municipality to provide or fund improvements within a defined area and to levy assessments or use other financing mechanisms authorized under Chapter 372 of the Texas Local Government Code. Pate told the council the process now moves to the administrative steps required to establish the district’s legal boundaries and financing plan.
The resolution adopted by the council authorizes formation of the Bonham Lakeside PID and provides for related matters; the minutes record that audience questions during the hearing were addressed prior to the vote. The council did not record any amendments or conditions to the resolution in the meeting minutes.
