Livingston council approves transit payment, grant administrators, engineering contract and routine accounts

The Livingston City Council approved several routine funding and contractor selections during its Jan. 13 meeting.
Council approved a request from Polk County for Livingston’s pro‑rata share of $4,200 toward the Brazos Transit District service after brief discussion about requesting usage statistics and how the contribution is apportioned among participating cities. Alderman Bobby Jackson Sr. moved and Alderman Andy Evans seconded the payment; all present voted aye.
Council also approved two resolutions tied to the Texas General Land Office CDBG‑DR infrastructure grant. Resolution No. 645 named Langford Community Management Services as grant administrator for the city’s CDBG‑DR infrastructure projects, and Resolution No. 646 named The Brannon Corporation as consulting engineers for design and implementation of the same grant. Both resolutions passed unanimously (Res. 645 moved by Alderman Alan Cook and seconded by Alderman Bobby Jackson Sr.; Res. 646 moved by Alderman Andy Evans and seconded by Alderman Alan Cook).
On procurement and routine accounts, council approved the list of accounts over $2,500. Discussion noted the Electric Department’s purchase of a bucket truck and reaffirmed department procedures for equipment purchases; Alderman Bobby Jackson Sr. moved and Alderman Andy Evans seconded approval, with all present voting aye.
City Manager Ellie Monteaux also delivered city updates including a Polk County Chamber banquet on Jan. 29, a November sales tax payment of $443,190.70 (an increase of 1.92% from Nov. 2024), 17 commercial and seven residential permits in development, plans for a July 4th 250th‑anniversary celebration at Pedigo Park, expansion of the Sept. 11 remembrance to include the 250th anniversary, and that the Livingston Municipal Golf Course cart path project is 99% complete.
