Board extends suspension on mineral‑exploration applications and approves expanded planting contract

Streeter also presented Amendment No.1 to Planting Contract 2026PL‑2 to acquire additional surplus seedlings needed to support reforestation of underperforming sites. He cautioned the Board that the expanded scope may push expenditures beyond initial projections and that Forestry staff are monitoring costs and making operational adjustments. Commissioner Colene Martin moved to approve the amendment; Commissioner Gary Richardson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Next steps: staff will coordinate with Legal Counsel and, if needed, outside consultants to evaluate revisions to the ordinance. Forestry will proceed with the expanded planting work while tracking budget impacts and report back to the Board.
