Hampton apologized for the late presentation, explained the application was submitted before the grant deadline (March 11) and said the grant is reimbursable with an 80/20 split. She told the board the county’s 20% match will be paid from the prosecutor’s office revenue accounts rather than the general fund. “The grant due date was March 11 as indicated on the proposal. So we submitted the request for the grant within the grant deadline,” Hampton said.
A commissioner moved to approve and ratify the application; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Hampton said VOCA funds pay for victim‑services staff time and related services, including assistance applying for protective orders and coordinating resources for victims.
The board welcomed the prosecutor’s office staff and noted the office will take steps to ensure the procedure is followed in future cycles.
