Newton County approves application to seek up to $750,000 juvenile justice incentive grant

"We are actually requesting approval to apply for a grant, and it is an incentive grant for our juvenile court," the presenter explained, saying the grant is intended to serve low-level juvenile offenders and can be used to provide in-home, school and community services. The presenter said the county can apply for up to $750,000 and that the grant requires no county match; if awarded, services would be administered through a service provider.
The board moved and seconded the request and the chair announced the vote was unanimous.
Next steps: staff may proceed with the application process and, if awarded, will return to the board with details about the award amount and provider arrangements.
