Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles denies most parole requests, grants several pardons and restorations

The Alabama Board of Pardons and Paroles met Oct. 21, 2025, in Montgomery to consider parole and pardon petitions under Alabama Code, Title 15, Chapter 22. Chair Hal Nash presided and the board approved prior minutes before proceeding through a daily docket of parole and pardon cases.

The board denied the majority of parole requests presented during the session, and it set a range of reset dates where noted. Several pardons and restorations of civil and political rights were granted after the lunch recess. The board also approved a limited number of paroles with specific post-release conditions, including enrollment in the Perry County Probation/Parole Reentry Education Program (PREP), substance-abuse programming, mental health follow-up, GPS ankle monitoring, required community service hours and approved halfway‑house placement.

Notable outcomes included the board’s decision to grant parole to Tommy J. Rogers (AIS# 246679) with multiple special conditions: completion of the Perry County PREP, NA/AA participation, mental health follow-up, GPS ankle monitor, 1,000 hours of community service, placement in an approved halfway house, drug assessment upon release and referral to Alabama Appleseed for reentry assistance.
