Councilmember Bryan Barker and Councilmember Bill Priestley were among the members making and seconding the motions, and roll-call votes were recorded.
On first reading, staff presented an ordinance to amend Chapter 5, Article IX, Sec. 5-95 to clarify permitting and inspection requirements for electrical work. City Manager Elizabeth Borstad read the proposed modification: "All work shall be performed and permitted by a licensed electrician that is registered with the city unless specifically exempted by Sec. 5-94 or Sec. 5-96. All exemptions shall be approved by the Electrical Inspector or his representative." That ordinance was presented for first reading and will return for a subsequent vote.
