Council confirms two new members to Athens Tourism Advisory Council

Dar in Hamm, Tourism and Marketing Manager, told the council there were two openings on the advisory council and that adding members would provide additional diversity to the group. Garrett Wilkes introduced himself to the council as a small-business owner and a U.S. military veteran and said he wanted to "contribute in any way he can to help boost the community of Athens." The council unanimously confirmed his appointment.
The council then confirmed Gail Gardner to the other vacancy after Mr. Hamm recommended her as an excellent addition. Both confirmations were unanimous and received applause from those present.
Appointments take effect immediately and the Tourism Advisory Council will proceed with its duties under the city's advisory-board process.
