Planning commission approves two duplexes on Parcel 05-15-33

Milfords Planning and Zoning Commission approved a plan on April 8 to allow two duplexes on Parcel 05-15-33, a half-acre property across from the old elementary school, with the developer planning to split the parcel into two lots after construction.

Staff member Lisa said the developer, Matt Sharon, has pulled a building permit but that final work will not proceed until both the building department and the city zoning office complete their respective approvals. "Matt Sharon is developing two duplexes, and they're currently gonna be on one parcel," Lisa said, explaining the plan to subdivide after completion and why the item required planning commission sign-off.

Commissioners said the proposal met zoning requirements for lot size and setbacks. A commissioner noted the parcel is about a half-acre and that the proposed buildings would comply with setback and parking requirements. The commission moved and approved the item in a roll-call vote (motion by Chancey; second by Lanae); recorded votes were in favor from Luke, Nick, Lanae, Dwayne, Garland and Chancey. The motion carried.

The chair said the action was essentially a ratification of the commissioners' earlier informal direction and that the building department must still sign off before any permit is finalized. The commission moved on to the next agenda item after the vote.
