Summary
The council accepted a $7,500 grant from the East Central Regional Development Commission to fund a level 2 energy audit of the proposed City Hall at 26263 Forest Boulevard; the audit will be conducted by Michael's Energy at no cost to the city and produce optional recommendations for potential energy-efficiency measures.
The Wyoming City Council voted April 21 to accept a $7,500 grant from the East Central Regional Development Commission (ECRDC) to fund a level 2 energy audit of the proposed new City Hall at 26263 Forest Boulevard.
City staff explained that ECRDC offers Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) funding and that Michael's Energy will perform an on-site assessment and energy-use analysis, identify conservation measures and produce findings at no cost to the city. Staff emphasized the audit will provide possible solutions and recommendations; any recommended measures would be evaluated for feasibility and cost and would require separate approval before implementation. Council members asked where the audit idea originated and staff said it came through regional grant opportunities and was discretionary rather than required when the building was purchased.
The council moved and approved Resolution 260443 accepting the ECRDC grant by voice vote with no recorded opposition. Staff said the grant covers the audit cost and the city can choose whether to implement any recommendations.
