Sanilac County names several board members, appoints Kristal Schulz as 911 central dispatch director

The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners approved multiple appointments April 7, including new members for the county’s advisory boards and a leadership appointment in central dispatch.
On motions carried during the meeting the board appointed Joyce Johnson, Brett Lester, Anna Lopez and Angela Weber to the Sanilac County Community Mental Health Board for three-year terms expiring March 31, 2029. Wil Morris spoke on behalf of Anna Lopez and Angela Weber during the interviews preceding the appointments.
For the Parks & Recreation Board, the board placed Jim Bowerman, Jim Terpenning, Angela VanSickle and Kenneth Wimmer into nomination. Signed ballots recorded that Bowerman and Terpenning received votes from all seven commissioners; VanSickle received one vote (Chairman Jon Block); Wimmer received six votes. Chairman Jon Block declared Jim Bowerman, Jim Terpenning and Kenneth Wimmer appointed to three-year terms ending April 8, 2029.
The board also appointed Frederick H. Buchner to the Veterans Affairs Committee for a partial four-year term expiring Nov. 1, 2026.
In a separate personnel action (NFA-005-26), moved by Commissioner Bill Sarkella and seconded by Commissioner Evans Ehardt, the board appointed Kristal Schulz as the 911 Central Dispatch Director effective April 11, 2026.
Each appointment was approved by the motions recorded in the official minutes; the Parks & Recreation appointments were determined by signed ballots provided during the meeting and the chair’s declaration of appointment.
