Council approved the purchase of a variable frequency drive (VFD) pump for Well No. 3 after staff described an IMEA electrical efficiency incentive that will fund part of the project.
Commissioner McDermott and staff explained the project, and staff reported receiving a notice to proceed from the IMEA and an allocated incentive of $20,286.63 for the VFD pump installation. "We have set aside $20,286.63 to pay the incentive on the project when it is completed as it is described in your pre application," a staff member said. Councilmembers praised the electric superintendent and the departments for securing the grant and moved to approve procurement of the pump.
A motion to approve the purchase (project cost listed at $60,653.09) passed by roll call. Council directed staff to proceed with procurement and accept the IMEA incentive when the project meets program requirements.
