Huntington Park approves Dell contract for Microsoft 365 licensing, device management and support

Finance staff recommended a three-year cooperative agreement with Dell Technologies to centralize Microsoft 365 licensing, device management (Intune), email and phone services for the city. The recommendation cited improved data residency (keeping cloud storage within the U.S.) and the ability to wipe lost or stolen devices remotely as primary benefits.
Staff said the proposed package would replace multiple vendors and would cost about $11,000 more annually than the city’s current mixed-vendor arrangement, but would add mobile device management and other features that were previously quoted separately at a higher combined cost. "It is approximately $11,000 more than what we're currently paying, but we gain so much more in adding what we call a mobile device management system," the presenting director said.
Council discussed the cybersecurity and operational advantages and then approved the appropriation and contract award by roll call. Staff said the agreement will improve email storage and retention management and allow the city to centrally enforce retention requirements and security controls.
