Diamond Ride staff report shows 6,752 trips in six months; officials say vendor transition succeeded

City staff provided a status update on Jan. 20 for the Diamond Ride program, the city's on-demand transportation service for eligible seniors and residents with disabilities.
Principal Management Analyst Danette Mansfield reviewed six months of data after the city transitioned the service to Go Go Technologies on July 1, 2025. Between July and December 2025 the program completed 6,752 one-way trips and served 844 enrolled members; approximately 130 members used the service in an average month. Staff said the typical trip length was 5.2 miles and average trip duration about 13.4 minutes.
Mansfield said the transition from a taxi-based model to an on-demand provider that partners with national ride-hailing firms and provides wheelchair-accessible service met the city's goals of improved reliability and shorter wait times. Staff reported positive feedback received by mail and social media and said the Diamond Ride program is funded by Proposition A transportation funds and does not impact the general fund.
No formal action was required; council members thanked staff for the update.
